- The subject of the competition are sculptures for the art nouveau fountain/fountain on Masaryk Square in Děčin, which is a cultural monument, in two possible variants: A. bronze replicas based on the original documentation (design of replicas); B. free sculptural figurative work from any material that relates to the storyhu
about the Loubske prameni (free creation).
The intention is therefore to find an optimal artistic solution for the sculptural decoration of the fairytale fountain, including the type of material.
The fountain was built in 1907 according to the design of the architect R. Weyr on the site of the former Thun tomb. This is a professionally and quality made fountain, representing the pinnacle of art nouveau thinking. At the top of the fountain stood a bronze sculpture until the Second World War, the subject of which was the legend about the Loubsky spring, which takes place on the Kvadrberk hill. In 1942, the statues were requisitioned.
The bronze statues were placed on a limestone column on pins with a screwity, these have only partially survived. All the bronze statues and inscription plates on the fountain are missing.
In the center of the fountain, on a stone plinth lined with bronze gargoyles, stood a female figure of the White Lady blessing the spring, and below her a woodcutter with her daughter, two ravens and a dwarf.
