Preliminary market consultation document concerns the upcoming borehole survey research of four crystalline rock sites at Březovy potok, Hradek, Horka and Janoch, Czech Republic that have been recommended by the Czech government for further investigationaimed at determining the final and backup sites for the planned Czech deep geological repository (DGR) for spent nuclear fuel and other radioactive waste.
The borehole drilling survey contract, which is in the preparation stage, concerns the drilling of approximately seven geological core boreholesat each of the sites, including the related logging work, testing in the boreholes, and the sampling of the drill cores and the groundwater. The drilling of these deep boreholes will provide a unique insight into the deeper sections of the rock masses and allow for the refinement of current knowledge on the character and extent of the homogeneous rock environments and their suitability for the siting of the DGR, and the critical structures that delimit these rock blocks. The research will require the drilling of 3 vertical boreholes in these rock blocks to depths below the assumed base of therepository and 4 inclined boreholes for the purpose of determining the characteristics of the faults and other geological structures at the 4 sites.
